Whether it’s warming winter concoctions or refreshing summer coolers, Bozeman bartenders can mix a mean cocktail. Of course, you’ll find all the usuals, but why not try one of the specialty drinks mixologists around town have created. Here’s a sampling of our favorites, but really, you can’t go wrong with whatever flavor suits your fancy. Here are a few spots to find some of Bozeman's best cocktails.
Bozeman Spirits: This local distillery makes whiskey, vodka, gin and rum. Supporting Montana family farms by using as many local grains as possible, their slogan is, “Drink Local.” Try the BSD Bloody Mary or the Montana Huckleberry Mule using Huckleberry flavored vodka. They also offer recipe cards so you can make your own Bozeman Spirits cocktails at home.
Wild Rye Distilling: “This ain’t your grandpa’s moonshine,” the folks at Wild Rye will tell you. Distilling non-traditional spirits with time-honored production methods, these liquors are hand-made, and are preservative and chemical free. They even grow and pick their own sweet corn from the family farm in Corvallis, MT. Try the Boss Tweed Gin, slightly sweetened with caramelized sugar, in classic cocktails like a Tom Collins.
PLONK: Sitting in PLONK, you could easily be in an urban city instead of a mountain ski town, and the cocktails follow suit. House infused liquors and fresh muddled herbs go into these specialty creations. Try the Cucumber Cilantro Gimlet made with cucumber vodka and muddled cilantro and cucumber. The Gin and Juice contains fresh lemon and kaffir lime gin, grapefruit juice and ginger simple syrup.
Copper Whiskey Bar and Grill: Copper is a whiskey lover’s delight with over 125 Whiskeys behind the bar. While enjoying the spirit neat or on the rocks is the preferred way to drink whiskey, the specialty drinks here are just as delicious. Try the Bourbon Julius; vanilla infused bourbon, fresh squeezed orange, egg white and simple syrup, on the rocks.
Bacchus Pub: Voted “Best Bar in Bozeman,” 3 years straight by BoZone Magazine, this neighborhood pub is known for their Moscow Mule, with a double shot vodka, fresh-squeezed lime and ginger beer in an ice-cold copper mug. Or try the Bacchus Irish Coffee with house-made Irish cream and Jameson Irish Whiskey, combined in hot coffee topped with whipped cream. It makes us warm just thinking about it.
As you can see, the libations scene is hoppin’ around here. But along with good drinks, the local establishments are full of great company making any choice enjoyable. Cheers!
